Oyster Bay, New York Train Station - LIRR

The town of Oyster Bay in New York is found between the Long Island Sound and South Oyster Bay on the Atlantic Ocean, and is comprised of 18 smaller villages. The Oyster Bay Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) line terminates at Oyster Bay after branching off the Port Jefferson line, passing through several places of interest to visitors.

The LIRR is the only transport linking Oyster Bay directly to New York City, but Long Island Buses run around the villages which comprise the area.

Around Oyster Bay

Oyster Bay has several attractions which may be of interest to visitors, including the Bayville Historical Museum, Garview Point Museum and Preserve, Hoffman Nature Preserve, the John F. Kennedy Wildlife Preserve, and the Cold Spring Harbor Aquarium where visitors can learn about the freshwater ecosystems of New York. Bethpage State Park which is next to Oyster Bay is home to five world-class golf courses as well as numerous hiking trails, bike tracks and cross-country ski trails.

The town of Oyster Bay actually has five other stops before the terminus, beginning with Glen Head. The best way to make the most of everything on offer in the area is to grab a ten-journey or daily ticket so that you can hop on and off the LIRR to get between each of the stops.

Other Oyster Bay Stations

Most of the stops along the Oyster Bay line serve predominantly commuters making their daily journey into the city. Roslyn may be of interest to history buffs though, with the Historic District being home to lots of homes preserved from the 19th Century. The Nassau County Museum of Art is also worth a look, with over 600 works from American and European artists.
